garden grows
This summer has seen my first serious attempt at veggie growing, and Ive been slowly enjoying my first homegrown eats these last few weeks. Im in love!
Unfortunately our house was sold so I'll be moving somewhere within the month. Im not sure what will be worse: saying goodbye to all those in-ground pumpkins, zucchini and corn, or moving all my potted plants (which includes 30-odd fruiting tomato plants) somewhere new! Aghhhh. Cross your fingers for me, please, the Melbourne rental market is seriously THE WORST!

That sucks, good luck with the hunt, I'm sure you'll find a treasure. On the upside, you must have wicked green thumbs because your first try is pretty great! I'm also growing for the first time, it's been hit & miss
ReplyDeleteYeah Amy, I think I got lucky with all the rain this year (plus I hope I might have inherited my mum/nannas thumbs)!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Melbourne really is the worst! I hope you find somewhere great with a big backyard so you can keep on growing!
ReplyDeleteSweet harvest! We have a bit of a veggie patch/balcony thing happening, but it's like 'lets share this one cherry tomato - yummm! yay us!'
ReplyDeleteGood luck house hunting! xxx
Sheesh - that's a LOT of tomato plants!
ReplyDeleteHave you grown any carrots - I have terrible trouble with those.
Thanks Elise, its a nightmare right now but Im sure it'll work itself out (these things always do)!
ReplyDeleteYep Lauren, that was me too up until a few days ago but now things are speeding up a bit and soon ill have INFINITYYY TOMATOOOOO!!!!
Freefalling - I havent! They sound scary/hard to grow and soil here is too clayish so I dont bother! Hopefully next year.... without a lot of soil-prep first!
From the depths of an English winter, those shots are really uplifting. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be able to grow veggies in your back yard! I hope to try it this year!
ReplyDeleteOh that is a shame your house got sold especially with all your veges in bloom!
ReplyDeleteMy garden is going incredibly too - has been pretty perfect garden weather I guess.
Good luck on the house hunt...!

What a bugger. Thats happened to us far too many times. So we ended up buying a place in Ballarat a few years ago. Now our garden is ours and this is the best time of the year for produce. Wish you all the best for the move and initially just finding a place!
ReplyDeleteNice blog, thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteoh man, house hunting in melbourne is SO bad.
ReplyDeletei remember the days when you could go to a real estate agent and collect keys for about 8 different places to inspect, take your time going through them, then go home and think about it for a few days before deciding which one you wanted. and this was not that long ago, really.
but now we are doing the same as many people seem to be doing; staying put because it is just too hard to find somewhere better.
utmost sympathy and well wishes for you; it IS all worth it in the end, of course, but it can be frustrating getting there...
how amazing! bad news about the move. we just found out we might have to move soon too. not fun!
ReplyDeleteFingers firmly crossed.
ReplyDeleteBUGGER!
Think you've got more than a green thumb there...
aaahhh i this post makes me long for spring! too bad wisconsin is under inches and inches of snow... i'll enjoy through your photos.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had greener thumbs! Maybe I should volunteer again at the school's community garden or something. Thanks for the inspirational post!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for endulging my complaints (and you melbournians for agreeing with me)! So glad everything worked out in the end...
ReplyDeletei love all of these. that table, awesome.
