nonsense & help
A bit of animated hecticity to match a crazy-exhausting-fun few weeks.
I wonder can you guys help- I have finally decided on the colours for a patchwork quilt I want to make, but am having trouble finding the right coloured fabric. Can anyone recommend a fabric store (Online or in Melbourne) with a wide block-colour selection?

I have been looking for rainbow coloured cottons, in Lincraft in the city they have quite a lot to choose from in the corner quilters cotton section. Not all the colours are beautiful, but they also have a bunch of bright broadcloth too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually the biggest fan, but they are ok for things like that.
You crazy cat.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to the CWA State Fair in Toorak next Saturday - you should come! I'm sure we could befriend some ol' patchworking grandmas who could tip you off. My grandma is a patchworking pro, but she lives interstate so...
can't help on the fabric front...but just want to say this post is the best!!
ReplyDeletecan't help on the fabric front either... but i love this post! nothing beats a gif animation. okay perhaps multiple gif animations :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I really like the 2nd one, it's so funky and doesnt stop making me laugh :')
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I dont know any fabric shops apart from Franklins but I'm not sure about their stock, sorry.
The last one is so much of a jump my mind went wild. I love the dog one! Lovely surprises.
ReplyDeleteThat dog is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteAnd about fabrics, on the website spponflower.com you can design and print your own fabric. Haven't tried it though, so I don't know about the results.
I mean spoonflower, sorrr for the mess-up!
ReplyDeletePatchwork Central is fantastic and in Malvern - i believe the tram 72 has its last stop right where it is (if you don't have a car). They have incredible stuff.......also, Spotlight in Preston is quite incredible too! one of those new big fancy stores and I have used it as a source for all sorts of gingham, seersucker and a bazillion really great patchwork stuff! Have fun! I started my first patchwork and have gotten to the batting/sandwich stage and am scared to progress! I look forward to watching yours grow!
ReplyDeletePurl is my go-to site for any kind of fabric...

Hope you can find what you're looking for!
i'm of no use for advice, but your photos were so much fun. i realllllly love your dog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your help guys! Purl definately has one of the colours I need, and I'll check out the others this week!
ReplyDeleteLauren that CWA Fair sounds so rad but, god damn it, Im working! :(
yay for animated gifs! the dog is so funny.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Absolutely love the animation!
ReplyDeletei know i'm a bit late, but you should check out the kona solids range: there are over 200 colours, and the quality is just lovely.
ReplyDeletei bought 9 yards on etsy last year which delivered (airmail) came to less than $50...
then when the colours arrived i realised that i needed one or two more colours (i know; 9 wasn't enough?!), so i hunted everywhere and finally got a couple of metres from spotlight and lincraft, but the quality is just not the same (though the price was, if not slightly higher).
best of luck with your quilt: i have made two massive quilt tops so far, but have yet to actually quilt them...i'm too worried that i'll stuff it up and ruin my hard work!!
Welly well ... turns out you are a cutie patootie! I saw your reflection!
ReplyDeleteLove the images.
this might be a bit late but you could also try GJ's on Lygon St, East Brunswick. They have a craft section hidden upstairs. Good luck!
ReplyDeletethis is fantastic, haha.
ReplyDeleteGJ's has a quilt section upstairs where all the Nannas/Nonnas go. Lygon St.
